About us

The Cugusi family are farmers who originated from Sardinia and moved to Valdorcia in the early 1970s. They revitalised the local rural economy which had been slowly declining following the abandonment of the countryside that took place in Tuscany in the 1950s/1960s.
The Cugusi name has always been associated with the best Pecorino Cheese, a typical cheese made of sheep’s milk, one of the most well known Tuscan food products. Their cheese has won several awards, due to their success in combining their Sardinian background and expertise with the local terrain and traditions.

Giovanni, who is the third generation of Cugusi cheese makers in Tuscany has a degree in Food Technology, and decided to further develop the link with the territory by opening it to the new experience of hospitality, and by converting to organic farming, rediscovering ancient varieties of fruit and vegetables and raising local breeds of pigs and sheep. In this way he wants to share the huge wealth of knowledge, experience and tradition for which this region is famous.
